"The Agency carries out tasks relating to: the security of the Republic of Serbia and the discovery and prevention of activities, which threaten to undermine or disturb the constitutional order of the Republic of Serbia"
(see Article 2 of the Law on BIA)

Sphere of Agency's activity includes the following:

a) Counterintelligence
Gathering, analyzing, processing and evaluating information on the engagement of foreign intelligence services and certain individuals, groups and organizations on the territory of the Republic of Serbia that are directed against the security of the Republic of Serbia.
b) Intelligence
Through the activities carried out both abroad and at home on gathering, analyzing, processing, and evaluating information of political, economic, security and military nature that indicate intentions and possibilities of covert activities directed against the security of the Republic of Serbia.
c) Other security activities
Prevention of activities directed against organized crime, criminal acts with elements of foreign, internal and international terrorism as well as most sever criminal acts against humanity and international law and constitutional order.
